REVIEW: CHEESE CHICKEN FLAVORED FIRE NOODLES

Samyang's Buldakbokkeumyeon Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen

Samyang Food (삼양식품) company reached out to us to try their Samyang Buldak Bokkeumyeon (Bulgogi Fried Noodles) noodles in Spicy Chicken Cheese flavor. There has actually been a trend from all over the world, even in the Philippines, of people trying out the version the company previously released which was the 2x Spicy Hot Chicken flavor. The success factors of the Samyang, which has established itself as a global brand, are 'addictive spicy' and 'various expansion products'. You must be wondering when and how this trend started. The international recognition of Samyang’s spicy noodles started in February 2017 when British YouTubers from the channel”영국남자 Korean Englishman” made a video titled, ‘Buldakbokkeumyeon Challenge in London’ featuring different reactions from British people when they tried the noodles. The video went viral and people started making videos of them trying out the noodles themselves.

As for the version we have here, we tried the Spicy Chicken Cheese flavored Samyang noodles and it was spicy! It was spicier than you would expect, the reactions you see on reviews of this product is completely organic. It is truly THAT spicy, but the spiciness goes away once you get used to it. Some of us even teared up, and some could not finish it.

Where can you get the noodles in the Philippines?

            Samyang Noodles are available in supermarkets and convenience stores for approximately 65.00 php for one packet, and 260.00 php for four packets. They are also available for purchase online on Shopee and Lazada. Prices may vary.

As we’ve said, the Spicy Chicken Cheese flavor of Samyang fire noodles is spicier than you would expect. The noodle itself has a very nice texture, chewy and thick. However, if you are buying this for the cheesy flavor, you are buying the wrong bowl of ramen. Although we were able to smell the cheese when we opened the seasoning sachet, the cheese flavor is overwhelmed by the off-the-chart level of spiciness. That said, there is a hint of sweetness within all that spiciness.

Those who rated it a 4 said that it was above their expectations of spiciness, but it was too spicy for them that they could barely taste the cheese or chicken flavor. Those who rated a 5 said that they had an excellent experience with the product, and even if it was spicier than anything they’ve ever had, the experience was incredibly thrilling and exciting.
